Summer is that time of the year when nature is at its abundant best and the most conspicuous produce of a summer basket is the ‘fruit’. The season presents us with a smorgasbord of luxuriant fruits such as mangoes and mangosteens, melons and watermelons, cherries and blackberries, apples and apricots, peaches and plums, figs, gooseberries, passion fruit, jackfruit, guavas and more. |
Aptly then, it is the season for lighter fare such as invigorating juices, icy sorbets and smoothies full of luscious fruit. Not only do they taste great and rejuvenate you, but nutritionally too they are a rich source of antioxidants, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, fibre and a lot of other revitalizing phytochemicals.
