How to Calculate Your Ideal Weight
For Women
If you’re 5 feet tall then your ideal weight is 100 pounds.
If you’re taller than 5 feet, then for every inch above 5 feet add 5 pounds.
If you are shorter than 5 feet, subtract five pounds for every inch below 5 feet.
For Men
- If you’re 5 feet tall then your ideal weight is 106 pounds.
- If you’re taller than 5 feet, then for every inch above 5 feet add 6 pounds.
- If you are shorter than 5 feet, subtract 6 pounds for every inch below 5 feet
Why You Should Maintain Your Ideal Weight
- Most people gain weight between 21 and 60. That’s also the age when lifestyle disorders hit you the hardest.
- Maintaining your weight to what it used to be when you were around 18 (women) and 21 (men), helps you stay in good shape.
- That’s taking into account you didn’t have weight problems at that age. If you did, however, have weight problems, a good indicator of what you’re weight should be is to focus on what your folks or grandparents weighed in their late teens and early 20s.
- Those who are bottom-heavy or pear shaped aren’t at as much risk as those who have a larger torso or are apple shaped.
How to Calculate Your Calorie Intake
- If you live a sedentary life with no exercise whatsoever, then multiplying your ideal weight by 11 will give you the exact calorie intake for a day
- If you exercise at least three times a week, multiplying your ideal weight by 13 will give you the exact calorie intake for a day.
- If you get exercise nearly five times a week, multiplying your ideal weight by 15 will give you give you the exact calorie intake for a day.
- If you work out six to seven times a week, multiplying your ideal weight by 18 will give you the exact calorie intake for a day.
Some important math
- One gram of fat equals 9 calories
- You need to burn 3500 calories (through diet and exercise) to lose one pound
- Every meal you eat (including snacks) should have less than 5 or 7 gm of fat to stay healthy
- Ideally, each person shouldn’t consume more than half a litre of oil every month
